How To Find The Right SSI Attorney For Your Needs

Arthur Young

It's not always easy finding the right lawyer for your needs, and this especially true if you require a lawyer to help with a social security disability case. While it's not hard to find a local SSI attorney by searching your phone book or online, are they really the right one for your case?

Here are a few tips for finding an SSI attorney for your case.

Ask Your Existing Lawyer

Many people already know or have used a lawyer for other things, such as when they purchased or sold a home, when they created their wills or other estate matters, or just about any legal matter. If you are unsure about where to find an SSI attorney, the first place you should go is to your existing lawyer and ask them who they would recommend.

Lawyers in different fields often work together on legal matters, so they tend to have resources and connections you may not have. This means they should know who you can trust to work with you who understands your needs and get you the best results on either applying for social security disability or if you have been rejected in your case.

If you have not worked with a lawyer on any legal matter before, ask your friends and family if they know of any lawyer you can ask for recommendations from. Also, if any of your friends or family members have disabilities and have used an SSI lawyer themselves, ask to be referred to their attorney.

Ask Your Doctor Or Others You Know In Rehabilitation

You might not think about it, but you could ask your doctor for a recommendation on an SSI attorney too. Many doctors will work with SSI attorneys to help their patients with social security disability claims or if they have been rejected in their claim by providing medical records and information to SSI lawyers. Your doctor is also familiar with your needs and could potentially point you in the right direction.

You can also ask your physical therapist if they can recommend an SSI attorney, as they often have connections in the legal field as well. You can also ask others who are going through rehabilitation with you, or those you have met in the hospital or at a rehabilitation center to see if they can recommend a lawyer to you that will fit your needs as well.

Search The Local Bar Association

While they won't be as familiar with your case as someone you know or have talked to before, if you have no one who can recommend an SSI attorney, you can also check with your local bar association for a social security disability lawyer.

The local bar association will have all registered lawyers listed in their respective fields. You will receive several names, but it will be up to you to do your research to find the one that fits you best.

About Me
unlawful employment termination - what's your next step?

Have you recently been let go from your job? Do you feel that the termination was illegal in any way? It is time for you to stand up to unfair employment practices by your former employer. An employment attorney helped me get through an impossible time more easily. I had no idea how serious the repercussions for terminating my position could be for the company, nor did I know how much the company would owe me for doing so. Thankfully, the attorney took the time to answer each and every question that I had and discussed all of my options. I have included much of what I learned on my website to help others learn what they could be owed if they were unlawfully terminated from their jobs.
